Did you know that at Hotel Riviera Strand we throw away 4 tonnes of slippers every year? Meanwhile, thousands of beloved flip-flops, pool slides, Birkenstocks, Jesus sandals and elegant slingbacks are lying at home waiting to be used.
To reduce our environmental impact, we no longer provide disposable slippers in the rooms. Bring your own slippers when you visit, and together we’ll help save the planet’s resources.

We work across many areas to avoid putting more strain on the environment than necessary. Some of the areas we focus on in particular are energy consumption, CO2 emissions, water use, the reduction of single-use items, food waste prevention, waste separation, the proportion of organic food and drink, and the use of eco-labelled products and services.
As a guest, you will notice some aspects of our environmental work. For example, on the menu at Restaurant Riviera, where we choose locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, or in your hotel room where we encourage you to save water and energy in different ways. You might also see it in the courtyard gardens that attract natural pollinators. Other efforts happen behind the scenes – such as turning food waste into nutrient-rich fertiliser, optimising our energy systems, and training our employees.
